In the kitchen

The central characters and their stories

The kitchen is the centrepiece of the house, where the Golden Girls have spent countless hours. Here, between the fridge, the table and a seemingly endless selection of cheesecakes, they share their most intimate secrets, laugh about days gone by and make plans for the future. So this is exactly the right place to take a closer look at the Golden Girls.

Our Girls

Our Girls

Dorothy, Rose and Blanche - three women who at first glance have little in common and yet, thanks to an advert on a supermarket notice board, come together to form an unusual flat-sharing community.

Dorothy, divorced and with a dry sense of humour, meets the fun-loving Blanche with her self-confidence and love of flirting, while Rose, a widow from St. Olaf, who sometimes surprises with her naivety, writes her very own chapter. Later, Dorothy's mother Sophia completes the quartet. She alternates between sharp-tongued and touching caring at lightning speed, blending seamlessly into the turbulent but warm-hearted interaction.

Their men

Their men

Although the four ladies stand wonderfully on their own two feet, men always play a special role in their stories. While Dorothy's ex-husband Stanley keeps popping up at the girls' house despite their divorce, sometimes bringing chaos and sometimes nostalgic memories with his visits, Dorothy ultimately finds the happiness she deserves in Blanche's Uncle Lucas. Blanche always honours her George as her great love, whose place no other man can take.

Rose's late husband Charlie remains alive through her loving stories, and yet Miles manages to enrich her life in a unique way. Although in flashbacks we experience the deep affection Sophia had for her late husband Salvadore throughout her life and beyond, age is no defence against folly. With Max, an old friend from Brooklyn, Sophia dares to take another step down the aisle.
