“Nurses” provided a breath of fresh air in the series universe surrounding “The Golden Girls” from its launch on September 14, 1991 until May 7, 1994. Instead of cheesecake and chatting in the living room, we meet a young and experienced team of nurses who navigate through everyday hospital life with humor, heart and occasional chaos. Whether it's a stressful emergency room or a lively nurses' room - the stories are once again set in sunny Miami and leave no doubt that real friendships and quirky adventures can also take place in hospital corridors.

“Nurses” is closely interwoven with the other series about Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. For example, Betty White (Rose Nylund from “The Golden Girls”) and David Leisure (Charley Dietz from “Empty Nest”) pop in as guest stars and lend the Miami flair even more recognizability. For fans, “Nurses” thus offers the opportunity to meet beloved characters in new surroundings and experience a dose of hospital comedy - including plenty of repartee, romantic entanglements and surprising twists. So anyone who appreciates the charm of “The Golden Girls” will find just as much heart and humor in “Nurses”, only in white coat form.

The successful production team of Susan Harris, Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas, who previously brought “The Golden Girls” and “Empty Nest” to the screen, were once again behind the scenes. “Nurses” is based on a similar mixture of comedy and everyday drama, set in a turbulent hospital environment. Stephanie Hodge, Mary Jo Keenan, Ada Maris and Arnetia Walker formed the core of the ensemble, which demonstrated its skills in a total of 68 episodes over three seasons. Sometimes with light, sometimes slapstick humor, sometimes with surprisingly serious undertones, the series offered its very own version of Miami flair, adding a humorous hospital perspective to the charm of “The Golden Girls” cosmos.
